My Land, My Home

I have no mum, I have no dad
I have lost everything I ever had

You hate ME simply because of where I was born
The sad thing is
It is my land you adore

My country is destroyed
My life now devoid

Can you not see
What this is doing to me?
I was here first
Yet you still do your worst

All I want is to be free
To go where I please
I don’t want to hurt anybody

There are people in every land
Who are corrupt and evil
They’ll do anything to
Have the upper hand

We once lived in a beautiful house
Surrounded by gardens green
We had happy lives
It was the best I’d ever seen

Then one day came some men
Storming in with guns
They said we HAD to leave
There and then

They pushed and punched us
Screaming – if we didn’t go
Our house and our family
Would be bulldozed

We left with only the clothes upon our back
Crying and distressed
My mum and dad were taken
I felt tormented and oppressed

I was now homeless
Looking for scraps of food
My toys, my clothes, my belongings
All gone for good

I now live on handouts
With no one to look up to
We are still persecuted
What can I do?!

I feel trapped and humiliated
I am in a rage
Like an abused lion
Cooped up in a cage

We get stopped and have guns pointed at us
This is a part of daily life
We have no education
Just abuse
They say it’s justified

I don’t know how long I can go on
Living this way
I have no respect
I want to break free from these shackles
I protest, I object

Life isn’t what I expected
This isn’t how it all began
We lived such happy lives
Once upon a time
In this cherished land

  1. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this
post was great. I do not know who you are but definitely you’re
going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already
    😉 Cheers!
